It’s that time of year again, and we couldn’t be happier. We have just finished photographing our last wedding of the year and it was during our time with the bride and groom when the sun was setting that we realised WOW, 2016 is over! It has been a year of huge milestones that we never thought we could reach this quickly within our early days, and a massive realisation that we have been so fortunate that so many trusting couples have asked us to capture what is to be one of the most significant days of their lives.
There is not a day that goes by where we don’t take for granted that we get to capture images for a living. It still blows our minds that a camera has opened up so many doors for the two of us. This year has seen us travel everywhere from Melbourne to New Zealand, document the most intimate and emotional marriage proposal, and capture so many of our new friends saying “I Do”. This past year we have not been able to wipe the huge smiles off of our faces, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
While we wont be forgetting everything that happened in 2016 any time soon, we are already looking forward to what next year has to offer. It will be the year that we finally put one of our biggest dreams into action, where we roll around Australia in Lilah, photographing weddings and all sorts of other amazing things along the way.
This 12 month trip is a dream that started years ago when Daisy & the Duke was still just an idea, and the past few years have seen us slowly building up to August 2017 when we pack up and leave Brisbane. At times the idea of traveling Australia within our caravan scares the living s**t out of us, but it is with the constant reinforcement and overflowing support we have received from everyone that drives us to keep reaching for our crazy goals. Plus finishing 2016 with the first leg of our Australia trip fully booked for weddings gives us a pretty good feeling that it might all just work out for us 🙂
With Christmas just around the corner, it’s at at this time of year that most photographers put out their collection of their hit photos, but we have instead compiled the photos of the moments that we can’t stop talking about. 365 days, 83 photoshoots. 36 of them being weddings. It was so hard to keep this (kind of) short and sweet, but we managed to do it.
These are our photos of our favourite moments that we will cherish for a life time. Please enjoy what has made our year so unforgettable, and thank you to everyone who made it possible.
